Lexi Smith: The Creative Year

About Lexi Smith: The Creative Year

Why commit to a year of creativity?

In 2024, I committed to being an artist—not just in theory, but wholeheartedly. My goal was to stand at the end of the year and say, “I am an artist,” with confidence and pride.

Creativity has been my lifeline. It’s helped me recover from burnout, undiagnosed autism, and anxiety. In a world that often feels disconnected, creativity brings me back to myself, and to others. When I was younger, I lived in a world of stories—Nancy Drew, Heidi, Greek myths—and that creative spark has always been within me, even if life pushed it aside for a while.

Fast forward to my 40s, after a few false starts, and a turning point came on my 48th birthday. A beautiful photography book from my husband made me realise how far I’d strayed from the life I wanted. From that moment, I committed to prioritising my creativity and carving out a path, no matter the obstacles.

The Creative Year is my journey of rediscovery—an honest, raw exploration of finding creativity amidst life’s chaos. It’s for anyone who feels that deep creative yearning but struggles to answer it. If you’re navigating midlife, burnout, or neurodivergence, we’re in this together.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Monthly Essays: Reflections on the creative process, midlife, and recovery.

• Studio Sessions: Co-working videos to help you stay focused and creative.

• Visualisations: Guided visualisations to unlock your creativity.

• Deep Dives: From gothic aesthetics to storytelling, let’s explore together.

Whether you’re an artist reigniting your passion or someone dreaming of a more creative life, this is your space.

Let’s create something extraordinary—together.
